Beams, vents and ledges

High dusting in Brisbane for the places a regular clean never reaches

Air conditioning vents, exposed beams, ledges, light fittings, ducting, pipework and the tops of partitions all collect dust until it falls on the desks below. High dusting clears it safely from the ground or a platform, on a schedule, with a safe work method statement for the task.

About this service

Dust settles where nobody looks. The top of the partition, the exposed beam over the open-plan area, the return air grille that has gone grey, the ledge above the reception counter. A regular clean works at hand height and floor level; everything above that accumulates until a vent blows it back into the room or someone finally looks up during a meeting. In a medical practice or a food-handling area it is a hygiene issue; in a warehouse it is a housekeeping and fire-load issue; in an office it is simply the thing that makes a clean space look neglected.

Delta Cleaning does high dusting for offices, medical and dental practices, warehouses, showrooms and strata buildings across Brisbane and Moreton Bay. The work is done after hours with extendable poles fitted with vacuum heads and microfibre, so the dust is captured rather than knocked onto the floor, and with a platform where the height needs it. Desks, equipment and stock below are covered first.

High dusting is one of the periodic tasks that gets scheduled in the scope rather than booked when the dust is visible. For regular clients it sits in the portal with a date; for anyone else it is a one-off job with a written price from a walkthrough. The task has its own safe work method statement, which is in the compliance pack.

  • Exposed beams, trusses, purlins and ceiling structure in open-ceiling spaces
  • Ledges, bulkheads, tops of partitions, cupboards and joinery
  • Light fittings, pendant shades and the tops of suspended fixtures
  • Ducting, pipework, cable trays and conduit runs in warehouses and workshops
  • High window frames, reveals and the tops of blinds and curtain tracks
  • Ceiling fans, exhaust fan grilles and extraction hoods in staff kitchens
  • Cobwebs removed from corners, cornices and external eaves at entrances
  • Dust captured by vacuum heads and microfibre, with desks, stock and equipment covered below
  • A note in the portal on anything found: failed ceiling tiles, leaks, pest activity

Cleaning inside ducts, dismantling fittings or working around live electrical equipment is outside the scope of high dusting. Heights above pole reach are done from a platform under a separate safe work method statement, which is quoted at the walkthrough.

Who it is for

Where high dusting matters most

  • Medical and dental practices

Vents and ledges above treatment areas should not be shedding dust. High dusting is scheduled around sessions as part of the environmental clean, with products and methods suited to a clinical setting.

  • Warehouses, workshops and showrooms

Open ceilings, racking tops, beams and ducting collect dust that falls onto stock and displays. Periodic high dusting keeps the premises presentable and reduces the housekeeping fire-load that inspectors look for.

  • Offices and strata buildings

Partition tops, return air grilles and lobby light fittings are the tell-tale areas in an otherwise clean building. Quarterly or six-monthly high dusting, timed with the periodic deep clean, keeps them out of sight and mind.

How we do it

How we do high dusting safely

Scheduled so it never gets visible

High dusting sits in your portal as a periodic task with its own date and frequency, usually timed with the carpet steam clean or window clean so the whole space is reset together. The inspection score shows it was done, not just booked.

See how inspections work
  1. 01

    Walkthrough and heights check

The owner identifies every surface above hand height, measures the reach needed, notes what has to be covered below and gives you a written price per job or a periodic frequency for the scope.

  2. 02

    Cover and prepare

Desks, equipment, stock and displays below the work are covered. The task is done after hours so nobody is working underneath, in line with the safe work method statement for the job.

  3. 03

    Capture, do not scatter

Extendable poles with vacuum heads and microfibre sleeves capture the dust at the surface. Platforms are used where the height needs it. Grilles are cleaned so they stop redistributing dust into the room.

  4. 04

    Inspect and schedule

The owner checks the finished areas on the scored inspection, notes any ceiling, leak or pest issues found, and records the visit and the next date in your portal.

Questions

High dusting questions

Anything else, call Jackson on 0412 844 238.

How often should high dusting be done?

Most offices need it twice a year; practices and food-handling areas quarterly; warehouses and workshops depend on the activity below. The walkthrough sets a frequency, and the inspection scores show whether it needs to change.

Do you need to move or cover our desks and equipment?

Everything under the work is covered, and the job is done after hours so nobody is sitting underneath. Items that cannot be covered, such as sensitive equipment, are discussed at the walkthrough and worked around.

Is high dusting done safely?

Yes. The task has its own safe work method statement, most of the work is done from the ground with extendable poles, and platforms are used only where the height needs them. Delta carries $20 million public liability insurance and has WorkCover in place.

Can you clean the air conditioning vents?

We clean the grilles, vents and diffusers on the room side so they stop shedding dust. Cleaning inside ducts and servicing the air conditioning itself is a job for your mechanical services contractor.

What does high dusting cost?

It is priced per job after a walkthrough, based on the area, the heights, the amount of covering needed and whether a platform is required. For regular clients it is a periodic line item in the scope with its own frequency.
